School

Joey has been going to school now for almost 2 years. He started last year, age 3, in an early childhood program for his speech development issues. This year he was in the same EC program again but then in December moved to a speech impact program where the main focus is speech. All this time my Joshy has been wanting to go to school. He just turned 3 in January so this coming school year is the first where he's old enough. With all the drama going on in the beginning of this year from still getting used to a new baby in the house to my auntie's illness and subsequent passing, I didn't get around to signing Joshy up for preschool. One issue is he's not done with his potty training and the other issue was with as much as this school was praised I was sure it was filled up after the open house in Feb/Mar (whenever they did it). Well I found out on my playgroup message board that the school still had openings and was having another open house, today! So this morning Joshy and I got up and got ready to go. He was so excited he wouldn't let me finish all I needed to get us out the door. He also kept looking out the window asking for his bus!! LOL Finally I got everything together and us out the door. He was shy at first but after being led to a table with playdoh he was hooked. I think he's going to do really well there so I signed him up. He starts Sept 7th, goes 2 days a week for 2.5hrs.

The only downfall to this is every school day for him I have to take the 2 little ones with me into the school to both drop him off and pick him up. Winter time will suck!!

I only have to do this with Joshy for this one year, the following year he will go to "his" elementary/middle school for 4-K but then Jon will go to preschool in his place. Then that next year, when Jon is in 4-K, providing we don't have any more kids, I will be free to do the 2yr old mommy and me class with Jackson, then he can do the preschool school after that. It's strange to be thinking about all this already. Bittersweet to see your kids grow and develop, watching them learn and yet watch them become little people and independent, not babies any more...

First Cereal

Jacky is having some weight issues. I decided to buy him some Oatmeal with fruit (the other boys all hated cereal!!) I tried to give him some last night and he did pretty well but something didn't quite click with him. Tonight I tried some again. This time instead of feeding it to him I let him eat it off the spoon and he LOVED it! I had to make him a 2nd serving :) Woohoo, it's a hit!

Jackson's 1st haircut

All of my boys were born with a full head of hair. None of them lost it and they all had it grow like a weed! Joey, Joshy and Jonny had their first haircuts at 6mos and I mean ON their 6mos birthday. Well Jackson got his early. I think I got a hair bug up my rear or something. I cut Joey's and Joshy's hair yesterday and Jackson was my next victim. He did a great job and looks like a little boy again!

Pictures to follow! Finally time and have the camera to add the pictures (I swear everytime I go to upload pictures I can't find the darn camera!)

Before

AFTER a whole new baby!!

Raining on the parade

Jonny's birthday but the spotlight is on Joey as usual.

We went out to lunch at Red Robin for Jon's birthday. After lunch it was BEAUTIFUL out so we ran a quick errand to Walgreens then Aldi and home to drop off the stuff then went to the park. Jim and I were sitting at a picnic table keeping track of the boys. A lot of, there's Joey but where is Josh? Ok I see Josh, and there's Jon and Joey..ok. Hey where did Jon go? Jackson was of course in the stroller by us. Well at one point I noticed Joey was laying on the ground by the toddler climbing thing. He was on his belly and moving so I thought he was looking at something on the mat a little more closely. The next thing I know he's coming up to me crying hysterically. He explains that he's hurt. Finally points me to look at his temple. OMG the goose egg he had was outrageous!! It was so purple and distended. I was actually afraid it might burst or something.

We gathered up Josh (kicking and screaming, literally) from the sandbox and Jon and got into the car. We were right by the hospital that had both urgent care for little things or the ER if it's big (needing X-rays or other types of procedures) So I had Jim drop off me, Joey and Jack and take the other boys home and wait for me to call him.

They triaged him and put us in a room with some ice for his head. The doc came in and wanted a CT scan. The transporter came in and Joey was thrilled beyond believe to be rolled on the gurney to the CT scan! LOL

Now this was the fun part..... I'm following Joey with Jackson of course. As I'm entering the CT room the tech is like motioning me to get out. I told him firmly but politely that I'm not leaving my 4yr old. He starts to argue with me that he can't have that baby in here. I said, baby's already had a CT scan, we know how this works, he's fine I'll put him by the door. (the CT emits so little radiation that the only reason they put a lead apron on Jackson for his scan was to make ME feel better!) This guy is going on about the baby not being in there then says to the young kid transporter, you take the baby out to the hall and watch him out there.

I said, Uh, NOPE, not happening.
He said, well I can't have that baby in here!
Ok, well I'll put him in that room with you, that is a lead wall right? He'll be fine back there and with the big window I can see him.

I start rolling him that way and as I'm going I said to him, You do NOT separate a mom from her young children!

So I park the baby by the door out of the way (it was a bigger room than you usually see) and I walk out to be by Joey. The guy goes, ok, but we do have an understanding that when I'm running the test you will not be in here!

Um, NO, I will be right here with my 4yr old. YOU will get me a lead apron to wear!!!!!

Oh man that guy was not happy with me at all but funny thing is he didn't fight me much. No where near as much as I would have expected. I was all prepared to cancel the CT if I had to. What the hell did this guy think, that a 4yr old is going to lay still and not fall off that little table thing just because he's behind a picture window telling him to stay still? OMG!!

Well as I'm sure you can imagine his head was just fine. They sent us home with orders to take Tylenol or Motrin as he might have a headache for a couple days, watch out for signs of head trauma and follow up with the pedi in 3-4 days.

Today his goose egg looks so much better. Wow! That was one scary head injury, the way it swelled and so fast... But that's my Joey, always gotta steal the lime light on other people's special days!!! LOL

Jon had a nice rest of the day, we had his favorite, chicken nuggets and tator tots for dinner and daddy and Joey made him a cake and cup cakes. The boys gave him his gifts from them and we're holding off until the party for our gift to him.

Call me a liar...

The day after Jon turned 2 he started climbing out of the crib in less than 2 seconds flat!!! It's that just the way of it?

Jonny is TWO!!!

The Birthday boy with his big brothers!
Poor kid never gets to do anything by himself!

The cake his daddy made him
Us with our big boy
I just can’t believe that my baby Jonny is 2yrs old now. Wow… I’m speechless! LOL  Jonny is a great little boy. He is so smart. He watches his older brothers extremely close and follows EVERY thing they do.
He’s the only child I know that hit his terrible two’s just two months after he turned 1yr. No kidding!  But oh how he loves his family. Joshy is his favorite big brother. They got very close while Joey was in school from 7:30am-11:15am.
Jonny was rolling Thomas the Tank Engine cars on the floor at the age of 9mos, his abilities now are endless. His favorite thing in the world is his lovey, his blanket. This blanket was given to him at birth by his great aunt Patty whom just passed away March 15th. It’s a blue blanket with a teddy bear at one corner, a little bear rear just above the opposite corner and little feet at that corner. It’s too adorable. Pop thumb in mouth, blanket up against his nose and he’s a happy boy.
His speech is delayed so he started speech therapy in January. Already his vocabulary is getting much larger but he’s still quiet (until he’s yelling at you for something). His pronunciation is poor too so he’s got some work to be done yet. He loves his baby brother Jackson so very much. He’s so proud when he gets to be a big boy and hold Jackson. He also loves to help. He’s a great little picker-up-er. He loves to put item into something…then dump it out and put it back again!
He’s my oldest child to still be in a crib! He loves his crib and doesn’t seem to have any desire to climb out…yet. He’s watching closely as Joshy will climb INTO Jackson’s crib and open the window and shout HI to people while half hanging out! :( They (Josh and Joey) like climbing INTO Jon’s crib to play with him so it’s just a matter of time before he’s climbing out.
Jonny is a true joy and I can’t love him any more than I do!!

Easter 2010

Yesterday we took the kids to the mall to see the Easter Bunny. This was Jackson’s first trip to the mall! We skipped going to see Santa this past year due to fear of the H1N1 outbreak. Last year Joshy wanted nothing to do with the Easter bunny. This year each of the kid did GREAT. No crying what-so-ever. And they were really well behaved to boot.
This morning Joey was up bright and early for his Easter Basket. All he could find was a plastic storage container with some Smarties and 4 plastic eggs???? Once momma and daddy got up we headed down to see if maybe the baskets were in the basement play area. Sure enough they were! Joey found 3 of the 4 baskets and Joshy found the other. The 3 older boys got 2 DVD’s each, a new pair of PJ’s and candy. Jackson got a baby book, outfit and 3 teething toys. Then Joey noticed these sports ball looking plastic eggs laying around. Eventually he found more than a dozen of them hidden in the basement. He really had a blast!
